Living on the Edge by Aerosmith

f

(Figured I might as well post something XP Sorry for the constant absence; been trying to figure out a direction to take the plot)

In the distance, a small village lies. The town of cloth huts and wooden bridges spans quite a distance, while its people wander about their daily lives. Innocent children play through the fields, while the local battalions wander through the streets on their daily patrols. The sky is red from the oncoming sunset, so very few sense the uneasiness as darkness falls upon the village a bit too soon.

It emerges from behind the mountains, its shadow falling upon the land. In deafening silence, it glides closer, gazing upon the multitude of lifeforms wandering below. The only sound from its body is an unknown hum keeping it afloat as its line of sight falls upon a timid lad, his body twitching in a mixture of sheer awe and absolute terror.

The sound of gongs and bells fill the air as an alarm sounds, completely consuming the village with its blaring and shrill cries. As the people flee to their homes, the battalions take arms and ready themselves to defend. Armed with shields and spears, the troops take aim at the beast and throw their wares, the sky quickly filling with in increasing storm of wood and metal. From various points on the edge of the village, catapults launch boulders of fire in the desired direction, filling the air with a hailstorm of weaponry.

From behind a screen of clear glass, it gazes at the artillery soaring towards its frame. From amidst the hail and disorder, a loud humming fills the air, causing the incoming storm to freeze in midflight. As the ground curves in a perfect arc beneath the hovering amalgamation, the deflected attack drops back down towards the village in a shower of metallic death. Huts and those unfortunate are quickly decimated by the deflected weaponry as a pair of limbs emerge from the shadow of the creature, covered in an unknown armor. As the arms descend lower, large eye-like pores become visible, each twitching about independently before focusing simultaneously upon the target. Glowing brightly, the eyes each emit a burning spear of light, setting all struck ablaze in an energized burn that quickly spreads across the length of the village.

The soldiers continue their valiant, albeit futile effort to attack the beast, each of their shots deflected by an invisible screen. As the flames spread, the soldiers cease their attack upon seeing several bolts of black lightening beginning to cross in the space between the beast's arms, multiplying in a frightening frenzy as a black ball begins to take form and rapidly expand.

In the end, only blackness remains of what was once a small village.

=======================

From the west, the Grafulean fleet reaches the shores of the main continent, disembarking as the sphere begins to peek over the distant horizon before their eyes.

From the East, soldiers clad in the armor of Myvern gaze in shock at the sphere materializing in the horizon.

Kinda hard to pick one since I can't find any bad light in the anime I've seen so far. (

...but I'd have to go with Voltage Fighter Gowkaiser. Just seemed too dull for my tastes.

She's a Lady by Tom Jones

f

I love Sara

f

I usually say those three words to my girlfriend, who more than deserves to hear those words. But to be honest, a part of me does get a bit nervous having to say so in public. It's more of a personal issue. Being single, I hated when people flaunted their relationships in front of me; so now that I'm in one myself, I don't want to be the one doing the flaunting this time around.

f

^fair enough. ...though to be honest, I already belong to another.

*Graful*

The shores are littered with a multitude of sea ships waiting at port, smaller merchant vessels ready to sail, yet barred by an armada of warships towering over the sails. On orders from the merchant-heads of the city, the armada departs in order to investigate the disaster.

From beneath the waves, it moves silently, sailing like a bullet against the currents of the sea.

f

I dunno, it might cause issues since I also enjoy sweet things...

...though keeping in line with the flow of discussion, would you marry me if I considered you the sweetest thing in my life?

f

I suppose, but which you would I be marrying? Can I have both?

Would you marry me if I could offer you nothing but my love and affection?

*wrecked ship*

Through the lens of the scope, the soldier gains a better glimpse of the surroundings as it descends deeper into the wreckage, the ground turning horizontal upon reaching the bend in the ship. It moves silently through the halls, the only sounds are those of its footsteps and the occasional spark from the severed wires lining the corridor.

A slight bump causes the soldier to stumble forward only slightly, sending its gaze towards the floor. It steps back in response to having tripped over the corpse of this insectoid-like creature, body riddled with puncture wounds as its hand clutches its weapon in a death grip. The floor-like grating stained with the creature's bodily fluids, as if it were slain only recently. Before the soldier can take time to mourn its fallen comrade, a steel plate drops to the ground. Reacting instantly, the soldier gazes to the mangled form creeping forth from the shadows: An insectoid of similar race, staggering in a trance w/ weapon in hand as an strange fluid covers its body.

>Scan mode online
>Analyzing subject...complete!
>No lifesigns detected from lifeform. Body is similar to self, but is unable to sustain life independently.
>Cannot analyze fluid spilling from the subject's wounds. Seems to contain kinetic and metamorphic properties of unknown origin. Approach with caution.

The soldier readies his gun for defense as the staggerer cries out in terror.

Staggerer: *translation* '...he is coming... the master of all things... nightmare's end... all shall be consumed...'

In a state of panic, the staggerer raises its weapon and fires several rounds of energy. The soldier leaps back as the shots ricochet off the walls of the tunnel, firing volleys in turn. The first shot strikes its chest, while consequent shots strike its shoulders and head, causing its lifeless body to slump to the ground, spilling fluid all about. In an unusual turn, the fluid consumes the corpse of the staggerer, swallowing and distorting the corpse as it proceeds to bend into a bizarre contortion, limbs splitting and bending into unimaginable shapes. A deep, grotesque growling begins to fill the tunnel as the ooze subsides, revealing a ghoulish quadruped with pincer like tails twitching from its back.

>Scan complete.
>Unknown amalgamation born from fluid mutation. Increased levels of aggravation detected. Increased firepower recommended.

Before a shot can be fired, the monster lunges forward in a deafening cry.

f

I suppose so. As long as you weren't avoiding me as well.

Would you marry me if I had trouble being open?

f

(Welcome to the story, Ele. It's good to have you around.)

*Graful, Cliffside Overlook*

The sound of rushing waves and the scent of salt in the air fills the void as a lone figure kneels before a statue depicting a large whale-like creature. In the distant horizon, the outline of the faint black sphere.

Figure: "Great Lord Kelios, your humble servant beseeches thee...."

The figure continues to pray as sails prepare to rise in the distant city, the ships preparing their wares for sale and distribution. The aura in the air is uneasy, amplified by the dark globe in the looming horizon.

*Dyssad area, Wrecked Ship*

The halls are silent and dark, the only sounds being heard are the occasional dripping of fluids and the footsteps of the insectoid as it climbs deeper into the maze of metal. The horizontal halls turned to their side, it climbs down the vertical shaft, using the floor grating as grips. Treading deeper into the darkness, the shaft opens up, revealing a large chamber, a faint glimmer of light shining through the cracks in the hull of the room.

Surrounding him are what appear to be large metallic armors: roughly the size of an average human, a single T-shaped visor stretching across the head section for visibility,a small shoulder-mounted turret, and small circular exhausts on the back of the chest section. The insectoid approaches the armor, pressing a switch on the unit's waist. The armor collapses into pieces while the waist unit attaches itself to the insectoid, glowing brightly as the armor reassembles around the creatures body.

From behind the visor, the creature eyes the display screen:

>Initiating system boot

>BIOS check....OK
>ROM check...OK
>Uploading system drivers....complete
>Main visual systems....online

A view of the surroundings materializes before it as the display continues to run

>Performing diagnostic checks
>Primary mobility systems....no errors detected
>Secondary and propulsion mobility systems...o errors detected
>Thermal Blade systems.....no errors detected
>Scan visor systems....no errors detected
>Thermal Visor systems.....no errors detected
>X-Ray Scope systems.....no errors detected
>Arm rifle systems....safety onilne...only primary firepower is active
>Shoulder Mounted systems....no errors detected
>Auto Targeting systems....no errors detected
>All major operating systems online.

As the armor comes to life, a thought reaches the creatures mind, causing its hand to reach towards a small keypad hidden on a panel beneath the arm's right wrist. Typing as quickly as it can, additional text appears.

>Request: Translator Module and additional language files.
>Request approved. Installing language files.....done
>Installing translator module....in progress...12%

A message quickly flashes across the display

>High thermal activity detected. Potential for meltdown 75%. Disable core reactor to prevent meltdown.

The suit coming to life as if it were a part of its body, the insectoid rushes out of the chamber labeled 'Armory' and heads deeper into the ship.

From beneath the waves, it perceives the sounds of conflict, of clamoring and debating. The flow of the sea courses past its hide, doing little to impede its path of flight. Ignoring the shouts of battle from the distance, it turns its focus towards a faint cry, the bellow of a living thing from beneath the ocean surface.
